From source to approved action

A useful answer must remain traceable to company evidence

GriotAI separates retrieval, reasoning and action so that each layer can be tested and governed.

Direct answer

A user asks a question, the system retrieves authorised passages, and the model builds an answer from that context. Sources are displayed for verification. When an external action is proposed, the user's rights and the process approval rules apply before execution.

The six operating stages

1. Scope

Select a process, its owners, the relevant data and the decisions that must stay human.

2. Prepare

Clean, date and classify documents, then identify authoritative and obsolete versions.

3. Index

Create searchable passages while preserving origin, dates and access metadata.

4. Retrieve

Find relevant passages after applying the user's permissions.

5. Answer

Generate a response with citations, uncertainty and refusal rules.

6. Approve

Require confirmation and logging before consequential operations.

What is measured before rollout

What GriotAI does not promise

Retrieval reduces unsupported answers but cannot eliminate model errors. A cited passage can be incomplete, outdated or misinterpreted. The original record remains authoritative for important decisions.

Deployment time depends on data quality, hardware, permissions, integrations and the number of processes. A pilot result must not be generalised without further measurement.

Frequently asked questions

Can permissions be applied only in the interface?

No. Sensitive content should be filtered during retrieval, not merely hidden after the model has processed it.

How are updates handled?

Documents, indexes, connectors and models need versioning, tests, monitoring and a documented rollback path.
